Can I donate a car to a person in Arizona?

03 Mar

We’d like to donate a car to a specific person in Arizona (versus a charity). Does anyone know if this is possible (i.e., does Arizona allow for this?).
Great! What kind of documentation? I am in a different state (Louisiana) – and I have to get the Notary Public to notarize the title and fill out a form here in LA; will that suffice? Do I have to know the Kelly Blue Book Value of the car or anything?

Sure, why not. Now, if you want to write-it off your taxes, you’ll need documentation.

Sign the back of title and write up a “gift” bill of sale and that should suffice. Check with the arizona DMV to be sure.

Many or most states do not require a notary.

You can give a car to whoever you want, but if the recipient is not a charity (recognized and certified), you won’t get any tax break.

It is yours! Give it away but I would suggesting writing a bill of sale, selling the car : AS is and put a value on the car. Something as value. If not the dmv will put their value on it and that is what they will pay taxes on. All states vary, so just call to be sure. You don’t need to know kbb because no one can dictate your selling price.
