Can I staple a paid in full letter to my car title or do I need the lien holder to sign it?

14 Mar

i want to either sell or give my car to a charitable organization. I have the original title with the lien. I paid the car offf five years ago and received a letter saying it’s paid in full, a copy of the original contract, and a letter saying the security interest has been terminated. Is this enough or do I have to take the titke back to the lien holder to sign.

The letter from the lender is a lien release. That, and the title is all you need to donate or sell your vehicle.

you don,t have to do anything. once they give the title back to you then it means it,s payed for. the title is your receipt.

The title MUST be signed off by the lien holder. Attaching the letter will not remove that requirement.
