I’ve researched a lot of places online and I’ve narrowed it down a little, but does anyone have any personal experience with this sort of thing?
I’ve decided to donate my old car but there are a ton of companies out there.Any thoughts on who i should use?

I live in Houston and we donated our vehicle last year. We did a TON of research and ended up going with Texas Cars for Kids, they are based in Texas. We actually got to talk to the VP of the organization (sometimes she helps out and answers the phones!) and asked a bunch of questions. It turns out that they run the entire program themselves and don’t use third parties for any part of the process. I liked it b/c more of our donation went back to their non profit than most programs. Of course the biggest reason was the write off but they really work with you to make sure you get the amount you are looking for. Very nice people to work with, they made it pretty easy. Good luck!

If you have one in your area you should donate it to the Boys Ranch. It helps troubled juveniles, teaches them a trade and then they send it to a local auction, whatever it sells for at the auction they send you a slip and that is the dollar amount you can write off for tax purposes. Good luck!

I have no idea where you are located? Here in Florida, I know of a children’s home/school that accepts donations of vehicles, repairs them and resells them in the Orlando area.

You can pick a local or national charity to donate your car to. Some of them hire companies who specialize in charitable car donations and they do the work of selling the car and give the charity a small amount. some charities will keep the car for use in transporting people or goods. If it is important to you whether they use the car themselves or sell it themselves I would ask them about this before donating your car. Some charities sell the car from their own lots and end up with more money than when they hire it out. You can ask how much of the sale they actually get to keep.
