My mom’s old car is broken down and was broken into. the windshield and rear window are broken, car doesn’t start. she wants to sell it for junk, she’s not expecting more than $100 but she thinks that most places will null the cash for carging to tow the car. does anybody know a place local to us (cheshire wallingford northford etc) that would help?

Which is better a $2,000 cash sale of an older vehicle or a $2,000 tax deduction for donating it?
I bought a new SUV last week but I did not trade in my older SUV. I listed for sale but now I’m thinking maybe I should donate it. The Blue Book Value is about $2,700 but there about $700 in break repairs needed. So I listed it for $2,000 in Auto Trader. Would it be better to donate it to charity for the deduction?
How do you earn extra cash around the holidays?
Not looking for a full on part-time job, but I just recently had to pay to repair my car using my Christmas savings. I am going to go donate plasma, but besides that, what are some other ways you earn spare cash?
You find an envelope with $50,000.00 cash in it, what do you do?
Small bills, not marked, you find it on the street. Do you turn it into the police and see if anyone claims it, pick it up and walk away with a huge smile on your face or donate it to charity? You don’t have to stick with those answers … personally I’d be at the car dealership then straight to the mall for some power shopping.
Can we improve the cash for clunkers?
Would it not be even better if the new car lots could pass the good clunkers on to the used lots for a donation to the charities that missing out on the donated cars and the destruction of an even less fuel efficient, polluting clunker. That way the charities aren’t falling short and those who can only afford a used car are still getting decent vehicles. I thought this was a no-brain-er.
No one said anything about turning them over to charity. And there is always less fuel efficient, even older cars on the used car lots which are not being destroyed. Try reading what I have written, then think a little. Low income families, first time young car buyers, and charities are suffering from this green movement that could be used to get even worse vehicles out of circulation.
Why must the cars traded in for cash for clunkers be destroyed?
Why destroy assets? Would it not go to better use getting donated to “Kars 4 Kids” where it is sold to help poor children? Or just sold to the very poor who are car less? Isn’t destroying these cars a waste?
Why does the government have to destroy those cars in the cash for clunkers program?
I know they want to help the environment, but wouldn’t it make more sense to donate the cars to poor families or sick people who need to get to doctor’s appointments? If the the government gave all the cars to some sort of charity, they could auction them off and use the cash to further help their cause. Not only are people buying fuel efficient cars but the old ones are being put to good use rather than ending up in land fills for years on end. Doesn’t that make more sense?
I do see the point of getting the old cars off the road but poor people couldn’t afford a new car anyway even with a $4500, and they woul have had to have owned it for at least a year.
What is your favorite charity for giving cash and why is that one your favorite?
Which charity – specifically – would you suggest is the best to give a cash contribution. Not the United Way (as good as they are)…but a stand alone charity that is deserving of our money.
And, why do you recommend that charity?
How can I make at least $200 CASH, not online… by Monday July 20th, 2009?
I am going to have dinner with Sarah Palin on August 8th, the dinner is $150 a person and I must have the money by Monday. I currently have $100 that I made today from my garage sale. I would like to take my friend for an additional $150, so that would put me at $350 that I need by monday! I know I am way in over my head, but what can I do that ISN’T ONLINE! I have no interest in those online scam get rich quick things. I need cold hard cash in my hand ready to mail at 4:00 p.m. express mail on Monday July 20th.
I am open to any suggestions… my mom said she would give me $100 if I am short… but thats it. I am 16, live in California so I cannot sell my stuff to a Pawn shop until I am 18 and this is for my dads birthday. This means the world to the both of us!
Should I go door to door and ask for donations, then send everyone a personal thank you card with a picture of me and Sarah Palin?
I know: car wash, mow lawns, walk dogs, babysit… but I need the moolah asap. I am not trying to be greedy, but I have a deadline and I would die if I missed it.
I know I am asking a lot from all of you nice people here at Yahoo Answers, but I will award the most detailed and helpful answer the 10 pts for best answer… I always do!
Thank all of you guys so much!

Is the cash for clunkers program hurting many charities?
I know I’ve seen ads from charities that take peoples old cars and either fix them up or scrap them and use the scrap money. Has this program hurt charities whose revenues are already down in a tough economy?
how can a single mom get a free car and some cash from charities. i do noy have a job and i have 2kids.?
i am a student, no job got 2 kids, need a car to get arond and help with my bills. how can i get help from a charity/charities?
Does anyone know the impact the “cash for clunkers” has on charities?
There are many commercials and ads asking to donate cars for charity and people usually get a tax deduction. A portion of the cars traded for “cash for clunkers” would be donated to charity. I wonder if anyone knows how many cars are usually donated yearly and whether there is a significant decline due to this “too generous” program. Thank you.

The Salt Lake Tribune
I found one article from Utah about charities hurting, but do not know if this applies to the whole nation.
I am not trying to smear the program, but there are many unintended consequences – it is like the dominoes, you push one and they all are connected and fall, and apparently our lawmakers approved it very fast without estimating full impact it will have on our lives.
