How much of my donated car can I deduct?

22 Mar

I have a car worth approx. $3000 according to the blue book but it currently needs $1500 in repairs. Driving is possible but risky. Can I donate this thing? Can I deduct the blue book value come tax time? Will they pick it up for free from the garage?

How do I donate an older car in Illinois and will I be able to deduct it from my taxes?

It’s a very old 93′ Ford Escort that is barely running. I have been told that it is not possible to donate such an old car and receive the tax break.

Thanks!

Need tax professional help – Can I deduct part of my home as a charitable donation? See details.?

23 Feb

I am currently “renting out” two bedrooms and two bathrooms of my four bedroom/three bathroom house to friends who fell on hard times. They are a four-person family (two adults and two children) who use my kitchen, living room, and yard, as well as the two bedrooms and two bathrooms they live/sleep in. They do not pay rent or utilities (phone, electric, heat, hot water, sewer, etc) to me at all, but pay their own groceries, gas for their car, medical bills, and their own debts. I am wondering if I can get any sort of deduction, write off, or anything to compensate for the depreciation to my home, as well as the charity I am providing them. They are willing to write me a letter attesting to their move in date, and the fact that they do not pay for rent or utilities and are using more than 1/2 of the house without paying anything for it.

If you donate a time share to charity, can you deduct the full amount you paid for the timeshare?

on your tax return? If not, what percentage can you deduct? Is this the same as the recent ruling that cars donated to charity can only deduct the amount received at auction?

I Donated A Car To Charity. I Only Got A Notice Stating The Model And Year, No $ Value. What Amount To Deduct?

12 Sep

I know IRS wants $ amounts. I insisted in getting some $ evaluation from the charity, or a disclosure of the price the car has been auctioned for, but this organization stands firm. They say they can only confirm my donation without getting into the financial aspect. They advised me to discuss the issue “with my accountant”. I do not have one and I don’t think it is worth spending extra money just for clarifying this issue.
