How do you claim donations! Tax help!?

05 Aug

This is the first year we are going to try to claim any of our donations on our taxes, cause well we REALLY need to the money. lol

We donated about $250 worth of clothes, children toys and accessories (high chair, 2 car seats), 2 VCRs, a DVD player, and a Stereo to the Salvation Army. I requested they leave us a receipt but they didn’t.

So my first question is where do I go or who do I talk to about getting a receipt for it?

And do we need the receipt?

Lastly, how do we even go about claiming this on our taxes? Do we have to itemize it, or just put in the lump estimated sum?

If anyone knows that would help thanks!

What candidate will most help my Oil Corporation?

01 Jun

My father and I own a wealthy Oil Corporation, but as of late we feel our profits have slipped, and President Bush only let us write off our children, homes and other real estate, yachts, cousins, uncles and aunts, grandparents, and cars. We figured we could outsource more American jobs to save some money, but it’s working rather slow. So, we need a president who will stand strong for our rights, will give us many tax breaks, and will let us continue to outsource American jobs. Who’s the best candidate? We can donate to him/her up to, if not more than, a few million dollars.

I donated a car last year and when I filed my taxes they didn’t count it! help!?

31 May

When I did my taxes (at HR block last February) they didn’t count the car I donated. It was worth $4,060 at the time of donation and in good working condition. I kept the receipt and am now wondering if they made a mistake? If not, could someone (like a CPA) explain to me why they didn’t count this large donation?

Thanks!

Can someone help me to explain this poem?

27 May

I am just a biker.

I saw you hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line but you didn’t see me put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday.

I saw you pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk but you didn’t see me playing Santa at the local mall.

I saw you change your mind about going into the restaurant but you didn’t see me attending a meeting to raise more money for the hurricane relief.

I saw you roll up your window and shake your head when I drove by but you didn’t see me driving behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window.

I saw you frown at me when I smiled at your children but you didn’t see me when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless.

I saw you stare at my long hair but you didn’t see me and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love.

I saw you roll your eyes at our leather coats and gloves but you didn’t see me and my brothers donate our old coats and gloves to those that had none.

I saw you look in fright at my tattoos but you didn’t see me cry as my children where born and have their name written over and in my heart.

I saw you change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere but you didn’t see me going home to be with my family.

I saw you complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be but you didn’t see me when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane.

I saw you yelling at your kids in the car but you didn’t see me pat my child’s hands, knowing he was safe behind me.

I saw you reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road but you didn’t see me squeeze my wife’s leg when she told me to take the next turn.

I saw you race down the road in the rain but you didn’t see me get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date.

I saw you run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time but you didn’t see me trying to turn right.

I saw you cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in but you didn’t see me leave the road.

I saw you waiting impatiently for my friends to pass but you didn’t see me. I wasn’t there.

I saw you go home to your family but you didn’t see me because I died that day you cut me off.

I was just a biker. A person with friends and a family but you didn’t see me.

How do you get help from a Charity/Gov. program &/or Who can help?

24 May

How/What charities/gov programs/other could help with things like food, insurance?healthcare, & or a donated car/transportation, or anything else?

for a single (pregnant?) woman or a couple (she lives with her boyfriend, but he is somewhat between jobs due to the cold/rainy weather). Very limited to any income.

The woman is disabled according to doctors (but hasn’t been accepted with SSI & doesn’t get help from them unfortunately, no idea why), but She can NOT work, she has tried and almost died because of going against doc’s orders.

& she MIGHT be pregnant (which may have become possible again due to a new medication she is taking, she found out).

They don’t have a CAR or insurance.

In 2007 she got out of an abusive relationship.

What help can she get/where/what is she eligible for???

She lives in Birmingham & Gadsden/Glencoe, Alabama

Help! Is this a good starting to my story, or not?

22 May

I sat on my bed lonely and hoping that my father wouldn’t come. I unexpectedly heard the door bell. Who could it be? Ugh, I just hope that it wasn’t my dad coming home from work yet. I treasure the moments that I’m home alone. I reluctantly get off my bed and go to the door, almost tripping on my older sisters clothing that is scattered all over the floor.

I see a man outside; but wow that cutie was most defiantly not my dad. I open the door with joy and put on my flirtatious smile.

“Hey.” I say as he looks up and smiles.

“Hello there, would you like to make a donation to cancer research?” He asks, his eyes glowing from the sun.

“Sure, just a sec.” Knowing me a sec would turn out to be a minute. I go to the door and give him a five dollar bill.

“Is that all?” He asked as he flashed me a grin.

“Of course not! Here you go.” I hand him a green sticky note with my cell phone number on it.

“Ha-ha; pleasure doing business with ya.” He says as he throws an unexpected wink at me.

“Wait, may I ask your name?” I ask grinning.

“Adam; and yours?”

“That would be Aliyah.”

“Sweet… got to go bye.”

I see my dad’s car heading this way, I close the door quickly grab my book and flop onto the couch. I hear the door knob turning and I pretend to read.

“Hi dad.” I slowly look up to him and his facial expression didn’t show that he was happy.

“What the hell were you doing outside?” He asked his tone sounding angry. He didn’t even care to say hi; nor did he care to ask how my day was.

“Oh that guy-.”

Of course he had to speak after I mentioned the word guy. I rolled my eyes and prepared myself for a long lecture.

“Guy? Hmm, now I will re-praise my question; why were you outside… with a guy?”
