My mother continues to give $50 in my name on my birthdays and Christmas to a charity I have nothing to do with. She sends a nice card with a copy of the letter she sent to the charity. Shouldn’t she be making all these donations to the charity I donate my money and time to? I don’t want to sound ungrateful but I don’t think it’s a gift unless she’s giving to my charity of choice. Comments?

got an offer from someone who wants to sell a car but they offered to donate it to me to help with taxes. I know they can benefit by not having to do taxes and maybe even I can do the same thing, but what are the downfalls of this? Pros and cons of them donating the car to me for $$$ rather than me just buying it?
Is this even legal? help.
Why do we give money to charities instead of throwing it out of car windows directly at the poor ?
