I am legally separated from my wife. A couple of weeks ago, my car died, and it’s going to cost much more to fix it than it’s worth. I would like to get rid of the car – sell it to a junkyard or something like that – but my wife refuses to sign the title in order for me to do that, even though she would get half of whatever I get for the car. Right now the car is at the repair shop and is not drive-able. I have no place to which I can tow and store the car until I’m able to get rid of it – whenever that is; my wife lives with her mother, and I’m inclined (in spite of her threats to me to not do so) to have the car towed there, leave the title (signed by me) in the car, and tell her to deal with it in any way she pleases. The registration is about to expire on the car, and I don’t want to re-register it as it would be a waste of time and money given the condition of the car.
