The act of Charity is to help others that are in need . I for one will buy the meal for a drunkard .But give a family money for the Children cloths and food . Cash donations are as well delivered through a Rabbi, Priest ,Minister , or soup kitchen .

All three forms are good. I personally would rather take a street beggar to lunch than give him cash, because that way I know he gets fed. This opinion is coloured by my own time on the streets.
